Here is this week’s picture. Oo how interesting. The rainy season has started here in Korea and so I am rather damp and completely amenable to the idea of the desert.
“Of all the places we could’a had this shindig, you chose out in the middle o’ nowhere?” He kicked at the scrub. ”You lose your mind, boy?”
“It’s a good place, Jack. Checked it out myself.”
“Looks mighty vulnerable to me.” They trudged closer, dust wafting up with every step. ”Where’s our dancing partners?”
“I’m not sure.” he looked around. The horizon was flat, and he saw no one. That meant… “Uh oh.”
Suddenly, shots. Jack tossed him to the side. ”Nothin’ like a good ol’ fashioned shoot out!” he crowed, and hauled out his pistol. ”Let’s waste these guys!”

Love the twist! I bet more than one teenager has used this spot to host a party. Excellent job.
Nice twist! I expected romance and got a shoot out. Yipee!
Interesting take on this week’s prompt. I got the impression that this is set in modern times, but with a reference to the old westerns. Am I right?
Amazingly, yes! My friend just released her book this past week which is set in “modern yet ancient times” with castles and kingdoms and princes, but also smart phones and social networking. I was sort of half going for that, but western. Awesome catch! (here’s the book, too: http://www.amazon.com/Fairy-Tale-Prince-Will-ebook/dp/B008GO7SDO)
Thank you for reading “Adobe Dreams. I liked your blog as well-I will follow your blog and hope that you will follow mine! beebeesworld
Haha, fascinating introduction to your gunfight – and completely different from everything else I’ve read today.
I’m over at: http://elmowrites.wordpress.com/2012/07/06/friday-fiction-breakout/
Was it a drug deal gone bad? Or an arms trade? Sounds like the main characters got double-crossed. I like it! Definitely fits the photo prompt.

Rustic old gun fight!
Vivid scene, nicely done!
I knew the term dancing partners and it still took me by surprise. Good job. BTW…count me in as another Firefly fan.

Good use of the surprise factor!
Going to be a good night out I think. Nice one!

I somehow missed out on watching Firefly, but I think I’d have enjoyed it. An unexpected direction, Kaitlin, and I enjoyed the story.
Did someone say Johnny Depp was there?
Dear Kaitlin,
I like that you are a fan of Firefly. I thought you story was shiny.
Aloha,
Doug

I was already for the dancing and I didn’t realise you meant dancing to dodge the bullets so the second half came completely out of left field to surprise and delight me
I’m on the list but for those who happen across, my offering is also here: http://womanontheedgeofreality.com/2012/07/06/reality-brought-forth/
Sounds like a good ol’ western!
not at all what I expected..dancing in the desert but great take.
Very imaginative way to celebrate. I hope those guns aren’t real, though. Another dimension to the photo prompt.

Our stories are on the list: http://writersclubkl.wordpress.com/
Haha, I totally see where you got that.
I was thinking, “Dancing partners? In the desert?” lol. Liked it.
I have no idea where I got the term, but I was sort of thinking of Firefly when I wrote this
I am glad my parties aren’t like this one. Great fun.
so fantastic and fun!
it’s an interesting trip.
